COFFEE VS. GANGS

Maio 29, 2015

“Coffee vs Gangs: a new opportunity for a group of young people in Honduras.

screenshot_01

For young Hondurans, gangs are a constant threat. Joining one may sometimes seem like the only option for survival. At Kenco, we want to make a difference, so we’re starting by offering a group of vulnerable young people a chance at a better life. By training them as coffee farmers, we’re offering an alternative to gangs and an opportunity for a new future.

Over the next 11 months, they’ll learn everything from the basics of coffee farming to running their own business. Starting in September, you’ll be able to meet the participants and follow their stories.”

A very interesting project, born in Honduras, that gives youngest another opportunity of investing in their lives in a positive way.

We believe that education and knowledge open doors to empowerment for a self sustainable life! 🙂

Good things continue to happen!

Human Rights Can Not Be Threatned

Maio 27, 2015

Tories Won Again. People: Where`s Your Sense of Social Justice?

Maio 8, 2015

“What does five more years of the Tories mean for Britain?

The Tories’ plans for eliminating the deficit by 2018 will mean swingeing cuts to Government spending across many areas.

Health will be protected if the Tories keep their promises but local council spending, transport and defence spending will be decimated. (…) Welfare payments will be slashed One of the most controversial parts of the Conservative manifesto was to cut benefits for the working age poor by £12 bn over the next three years. But during the campaign they only said where £2 bn of these savings would come from. That leaves £10 bn still to find. Some experts think the only way they can close that gap is by means testing child benefit – with millions of families losing out.” Full Article: The Independent

“Peace activist Arun Gandhi reflects on the enduring wisdom of his grandfather, the Indian spiritual and political leader Mahatma Gandhi”

(…)

“I consider myself to be a peace farmer. A farmer goes out into the field to plants seeds and hopes he will get a good crop. I go out wherever I can to plant seeds of peace.”

(…)

“When Arun Gandhi was 12 years old, his parents sent him from their home in South Africa to live in India with his grandfather, the spiritual and political leader Mahatma Gandhi. Just 18 months later, Gandhi was assassinated, throwing the newly independent nation into turmoil. Although he initially struggled to understand his family’s response to racism and violence, his experience would eventually lead Arun – now aged 81 – to become a lifelong advocate for Gandhi’s ideals.”

Estamos de volta, em Força!

Abril 30, 2015

tumblr_meo40mto6m1rvp0cto1_500_large

Fizemos as malas e partimos.

Pardon??

Dezembro 30, 2013

Pardon??

“Alan Turing’s pardon is wrong
To single out Turing is to say all the other persecuted gay men are not so deserving of justice because they were less exceptional

The Queen’s announcement of a posthumous pardon, under a Royal Prerogative of Mercy, to Alan Turing follows a long campaign and a petition signed by more than 37,000 people. The pardon will be welcomed by many, and it is undoubtedly a gesture of humanity, compassion and progressive values. It is also entirely, profoundly wrong.”
